Polocrosse resembles the game of lacrosse, but its roots go back hundreds of years to Persia and its sister sport of polo. In England, polocrosse was an indoor exercise to teach people how to ride a horse.  A man from Australia saw these exercises and brought it back to his home country made some changes and the modern game was developed in Australia in the 1930's.

Polocrosse is called the "King of the One Horse Sports" because a player can use only one horse throughout a tournament. You can play this game on any breed of horse, of any age (as long as the horse is fit, and any size.  If your horse is handy, that is preferred but a fit horse is all that is needed to play.  The horses are required to wear leg protection.

The polocrosse field can be grass or dirt and is 160 yards long and 60 yards wide.  A chukkas is the time on the field for active play.  Chukkas can last either 6 or 8 minutes.  Two chukkas make up one game.  Three team members, numbered 1, 2, and 3 take the field.  Only the 1 may score a goal.  A 3 is a defender of the goal area.  2 is your midfielder and dominates where the ball is played.  Everyone is allowed in midfield but only the 1 and 3 are allowed in the goal area.  Teams score points by throwing the ball through their opponents' goal posts. At the same time, they protect their goal from the other team. All players can catch, carry and throw the ball with their racquets. However, only the player at the number 1 position is allowed to score.

Our polocrosse club is active in Local tournaments, Regional tournaments, National and International play.  Several of our members have been part of the traveling teams to included the U16 team and the 2003 and 2007 World Cup teams.

We have members as young as 5 to over 50 in our club.  There is a mixture of seasoned players to the raw beginners.  The club hosts one annual tournament a year.  We are growing and becoming more active.  We have whole families that play to the single working adult.  Join us...there is room for everyone!
